Janet Willie, LMT, LPN

Janet's initiation into healing waters began in childhood, drinking from the mineral springs of Manitou and Steamboat in Colorado's high country. This early immersion sparked a decades-long pilgrimage to thermal waters and historic bathhouses across four continents—from Turkish hammams to Czech spa towns, Greek healing temples to New Zealand's geothermal springs.

Since 1991, she has maintained a bodywork practice in rural Bethel, Maine, weaving together fascia work, aquatic therapy, ancestral healing traditions and movement education. Her teachers span disciplines—Tom Myers, Gil Hedley, Robert Schleip, Sharon Wheeler, Jan Trewartha in structural bodywork and ScarWork; Harold Dull in water-based healing; Rosita Arvigo in Maya abdominal traditions; the late Gabrielle Roth in ecstatic movement—each contributing to an integrated approach that honors the body's wisdom.

Janet's work proves that spa isn't about luxury destinations—it's about activating ancient healing elements in daily life. She also founded the Annual Shy, Novice & Closeted Art Show, now in its 21st year, embodying her conviction that creative expression is essential medicine.
