Summary:

Join us for a journey into the myriad aspects of sound and the voice, brought to you by four presenters passionate about and superbly well informed on the topic. We will take you from the experiential to the theory; from dissection to clinical practice. A uniquely curated teaching day that will fascinate and excite you and help you to free your voice; welcome to our first major presentation of 2025!

While Gil Hedley will present solely on the anatomy via dissection, Carol M. Davis, Ana Barretxeguren and Jeremy Ryan Mossman will, between them, weave together a journey through sound and the voice, taking us through: connection, energy, vibration, biotensegrity, how the voice is affected by external and internal factors and emotions, voice evolution, and working hands on with clients, amongst other topics.

The experiential sessions will be led by Ana and Jeremy, working with movement and the voice, freeing the diaphragms and exploring the resonance of the cavities. Whole body sound, and speaking/singing in public are all approached.

An open panel at the end of the day, with all four speakers, will allow you to ask questions and listen to these excellent presenters in discussion.

This day is designed to guide anyone and everyone into the world of the voice, and to inform your own work practice. Welcome to the world of the fascial voice!

Agenda:

PART 1: Sound, vibration, resonance, connection

PART 2: Anatomy through dissection

PART 3: What impacts the voice?  The voice as an emergent property.

PART 4: How do we find our voice?

PART 5: Q & A panel with all presenters.

Ana Barretxeguren

Ana Barretxeguren is a movement educator and myofascial release practitioner and
the creator of Moving Fascia®, a somatic movement method that has helped
hundreds restore ease and minimise pain through fluid movement.

Moving Fascia® originated as a fascial anatomy course, arising from Ana’s clinical
experience as a movement and manual therapist combined with her work in the
dissection lab. The result was the creation of Moving Fascia®; a relatable approach
that prioritises nervous system regulation and blends somatics with fascia through
movement, embodiment, self-massage and breath practices.

Ana holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Anatomical Sciences from the University of
Edinburgh, has taught embodied anatomy to movement teachers for more than a
decade and lectures on fascia internationally, including at the British Fascia Symposium. Her own personal experience of living with catamenial pneumothorax, a rare condition of repetitive lung collapses, has led her to a continuous commitment to the exploration of fascia, both professionally and personally, focusing on the visceral space and its connections to breath and movement.

Presentation: Ana, Carol and Jeremy will all present on a variety of topics throughout the day, between them weaving an integrated journey into sound and the voice.
