SUMMARY

Drawing on emerging research in systems biologypsychoneuroimmunology, mechanotransduction, and fascia as a sensory, immune, and endocrine co-regulator, this new text frames the human body as a dynamic, self-organizing vibratory network embedded in an energetic field rather than a machine of discrete parts. Within this framework, biotensegrity is presented as a unifying model of force and information flow—from cell nucleus to biofield—that underpins energy-based and integrative therapies in rehabilitation, positioning them not as adjunctive techniques but as central to restoring coherence, communication, and healing in modern healthcare.

Note: All monthly member webinars are made available in the membership section a couple of days after the event.

Susan Lowell de Solórzano first stumbled onto biotensegrity in 2008 while trying to deepen her understanding of the practice and classic writings of T’ai Chi Ch’uan; she has been a student of biotensegrity ever since. Susan began working directly with Dr Stephen Levin in 2009, and co-founded the Stephen M. Levin Biotensegrity Archive with Steve and his wife, Olga Cox-Levin, in 2015. Her book, Everything Moves: How biotensegrity informs human movement was published by Handspring Publishing in 2020. Susan is showrunner/ co-producer/ co-host of the BiotensegriTea Parties, author of the Biotensegrity Archive’s BX101 Guide, and producer of the Colloquy on Biotensegrity & Equine Health.

John is a graduate of the University of Dundee, University of Liverpool and University of Chester. He completed undergraduate and post-graduate studies in the areas of exercise physiology, clinical anatomy and holds post-graduate qualifications in education.

John's latest book ‘Understanding Fascia, Tensegrity and Myofascial Trigger Points’ has become one of Human Kinetics' most popular titles, reflecting the growing interest in topics related to fascia science.

John provides unique, full-body dissection courses across the globe and is a popular conference Keynote speaker. John will be chairing a round table discussion on fascia at the upcoming International Fascia Research Congress, in New Orleans, as well as providing a workshop with his colleague Dr Andrzej Pilat of Myofascial induction and a special dissection course with Dr Carla Stecco, Gil Hedley and Gabriel Venne.

Edward Bilanchone began studying the Alexander Technique in 1986 after back injuries forced him into early retirement from a career in professional ballet and modern dance. After successfully avoiding back surgery, he went on to teach the Alexander Technique.

For more than 30 years, he has taught a variety of students how to improve their lives. Ed specializes in training the mind and body to improve performance, prevent injury, and enhance living. Whether it’s peak performance for athletes or as a part of a person’s path to health, Ed’s approach combines the modern science of human performance with ancient martial and movement practices.

He has worked in diverse settings, including five years at the Fair Oaks Hospital inpatient chronic pain unit and the Mount Vernon Hospital outpatient Work Hardening Center. For more than 20 years he has been a student and now teacher of Tai Chi, an ancient internal martial art practiced by millions around the world. Ed has developed a unique way to combine the Alexander Technique, Tai Chi and his lifelong passion, golf. In 2003, he became a certified teacher for the United States Golf Teachers Federation. He has more recently become interested in the emerging field of biotensegrity. Ed is different from other teachers because of the scope of his interests. Psychology, physiology, sports, and the martial arts inform his work with students. He believes problem solving is an activity of the whole person. The physical, emotional, and psychological expressions of a person are not separate. We divide them into three categories for convenience and with the hope of understanding them better. Unfortunately, the opposite occurs. By separating the whole person into parts, we make it more difficult to enhance performance. Ed teaches the indivisibility of the whole person. He also honors individual learning styles, making learning more fun and effective.

Jan is the founder and director of the British Fascia Symposium and The Fascia Hub. She has been in healthcare since 1979, originally training as a State Registered Nurse in the Queen Alexandra Royal Army Nursing Corps (QARANC), working with patients on the wards and in the operating theatre; a superb if non-deliberate foundation for her future career as a specialist in scars and adhesions.

In 1988 she was taught by a blind massage therapist to really ‘feel’ the body, leading to a lifetime passion for body work. Jan was a massage volunteer at the Auckland Commonwealth Games where she learned from professionals from all modalities. Her work now is the culmination of many years of training and experience in different disciplines. Through her school, Body in Harmony Training, Jan runs a variety of light touch therapy courses, including Sharon Wheeler’s ScarWork, for which she was the first accredited tutor in the UK.
