Title: Unsticking your Fascia: exploring how fascia gets stuck, and how to free up the waterways within

With: Dr Karen Kirkness

Note: The replay will be available in the Members' Area, Past Webinars section, normally two days after the live webinar.

SUMMARY

Join Karen for this conversational dive into the science behind her latest paper on hyaluronan (HA), and how this gel matrix of the interstitium is involved in movement and healing. This webinar keeps the science practical, so you will learn the bullet points and key studies that inform what we currently know about HA in the myofascial tissue niche. You will gain a working knowledge of HA clearance and turnover, and how movement is key to keeping the fascial planes clear and free for pain-free gliding movement. This experience moves from theory into practice, so be prepared to move and enjoy an introduction to the Five Filaments spiral motion rubric that informs Karen's approach to spiral motion.

Note: All monthly member webinars are made available in the membership section a couple of days after the event.

PRESENTER

Karen Kirkness NEW July 24

Dr Karen Kirkness holds her doctorate in medical sciences with a focus on complexity and anatomy pedagogy. She has published numerous academic papers and book chapters and is the author of Spiral Bound: Integrated Anatomy for Yoga, a multidisciplinary approach to understanding how spirality is expressed in human movement. She codifies this spirality as the Five Filaments, a spiral motion rubric based on the multidimensional, chiral, filamentous morphologic constraints of fascia. As an experienced teacher of movement, she aims to hone the therapeutic experience of movement by emphasising the importance of "going with the spiral grain of nature". Karen lives with her husband and their two young kids in the Scottish Borders.

Note: All monthly member webinars are made available in the membership section a couple of days after the event.
